GETTING TO KNOW YOUR SKIN!

To get that flawless, beautiful makeup glam you really want… The FIRST STEP is your SKIN! You must always make sure you’re taking care of your skin & prioritizing it! If your skin doesn't look right, you won’t be able to achieve that glam you are looking for! My favorite skin care products that I can not live without are my Makeup remover wipes, Facial Cleanser & My Moisturizer!

Makeup remover wipes, or any Makeup remover in general can either dry out your face or break you out if you don’t use the right one, just like every other Skin Care Product.

(Below I have placed some of my favorite makeup removers that are great for ALL skin types). Removing your makeup is VERY IMPORTANT!!!

I don’t care how tired I am after a Romeo Santos Concert!! I am going to remove every single ounce of makeup off of my face before I go to sleep! Sleeping with makeup causes your face to dry out, break out & age!

Facial Cleansers are also very important! Even if you have makeup on OR not, it’s always important to use it because it doesn’t just remove makeup but it also removes all the dirt your face has accumulated during the day. (I use my facial cleanser every time I shower).

Moisturizing is a step you CAN NOT, skip! You should be consistently moisturizing Morning (When you wake up) & at night (Right before bed)! Regardless if you’re applying  makeup during the day or not, this is a step you can not skip! Moisturizing will either give your face that extra, extra moisture you need for those who have dry/sensitive skin. OR It will Keep that Excessive Moisture we produce LOCKED UP for those who produce an excessive amount of oil & have Oily/Combo Skin.

In case you don’t know what type of skin you have:

Dry Skin: Your face dries out! Most people experience dry patches around their face and mouth.

Combination Skin: This is a combination of both Dry & Oily Skin in certain areas of the face. Most common areas are considered the “T-ZONE” Which experiences excessive oiliness while everything else in the face is dry or normal. T-zone is considered to be the bridge of your nose, forehead, & chin.

Oily Skin: Your skin experiences extreme oiliness, all-around your face. In other words, your face may look “Sweaty” or “Wet”. If you are not moisturizing properly or using the proper products for your oily skin, the oil will be noticeable even through your makeup after a few hours.

When shopping for a skincare product or any products in general that you apply on your face, My NUMBER 1 recommendation is to always purchase ONE skincare product AT A TIME! If you go “all-out” trying out different products on your face, & you end up breaking out, you will not know which product it was that did or didn’t work on your skin.

Always give ALL your skincare products a 2-week trial period. By 2 weeks, your skin will show you a positive or negative reaction, & that will tell you enough if you should either add it to your skincare routine or stop using it.

I personally have Dry/Sensitive Skin, & I can recommend you many products that have worked for me throughout the years, but when it comes to SKINCARE, even if we BOTH have dry skin & I recommend a  dry skin product that worked for me, it doesn't mean it will work for you. Skincare is tricky & different parts of your skin may react differently to a specific product that works well on others. When it comes to Skincare it’s all about trial and error in my opinion.

WHAT TYPE OF SKINCARE PRODUCTS SHOULD I BE USING?

If you have DRY/SENSITIVE Skin, Always make sure that the skincare products you use Contain Oil! Dry Skin NEEDS oil, it NEEDS moisture! Always look into products that give you that “Dewy/Wet” finish! And this means products like moisturizer, Setting Spray, Face Primer & Foundation. STAY AWAY from matte products! Matte products give you a dry finish and will dry up your face!

If you have Oily/Combination Skin, Always make sure that the skincare products you use are Low on oil! Oily Skin does not need any more oil because they already produce so much. They need products that can tame that oil. Always look into products that give you that “Normal to Matte” Finish. Matte products will suck up ALL the oil! STAY AWAY from “Dewy” Products like moisturizers, foundations, Face Primer & Setting Sprays. They contain way too much oil for your skin.
